Another Great Season Comes to an End

Hello, Toppers!  This past weekend, Women’s Volleyball traveled to the University of Tennessee-Knoxville and took 5th place.  Women’s Ultimate took 3rd place in the “Disc Throw Inferno” at Denison University.  Our Tennis Club participated in the “USTA Fall Southern Open” in Chattanooga, and the “B team” recieved bronze in their division.

This coming weekend, WKU Fencing will be participating in the “Bourbon Open” in Lousiville, KY.  Best of luck to Fencing this weekend, and we wish you all a wonderful Thanksgiving! Go Tops!  

T-O-P-S TOPS TOPS TOPS

Hello, everyone!  It has been an exciting weekend on The Hill!  Saturday, Men’s Rugby crushed the Richmond Exiles with a 26-19 victory.  Following the rugby match, Men’s Soccer took a 4-3 victory over Belmont University.  Our Women’s Volleyball Club traveled to Lousiville, and brought back the “W” over Bellarmine University.  On Sunday, Men’s Lacrosse came through with an 11-10 victory over Eastern Kentucky University.

Our Men’s Ultimate Club hosted the “Chill on the Hill” this weekend.  The tournament was very successfull, thanks to all who came out to support the Toppers! Murray State came out on top, while WKU took 2nd place!

As the seasons come to an end, this will be the last weekend of games for our Sport Clubs.  On Sunday, Men’s Rugby will be hosting Vanderbilt University at 1:00pm.  Women’s Volleyball will be traveling to Rocky Top to play the UT Volunteers, while Men’s Volleyball will be traveling up to Oxford, Ohio, to participate in the “Miami University Tournament.”  Our Tennis Club will be participating in the “USTA Fall Southern Open” in Chattanooga, TN.  Lastly, Women’s Ultimate will be heading to Granville, Ohio to participate in the “Disc Throw Inferno” at Denison University.

Bright Lights, Red City!

Hello, again!  We hope you all had a great Homecoming!  Our Men and Women’s Rugby Clubs hosted their “Annual Alumni Matches” on Friday, October 25.  Despite the cold, many fans came out to watch the “Old Boys” and “Old Girls” show the current players how it’s done.  Both teams were successful in raising money for their clubs.  On Sunday, Men’s Soccer hosted Bellarmine University and came out with a 5-3 win.

This Saturday, Men’s Rugby will be hosting Memphis University.  The game will begin at 1:00pm at the Intramural Sports Complex.  Also, Men’s Soccer will be traveling on Saturday to Lousiville for a rematch against Bellarmine University.  We wish both teams the best of luck, and hope you can all come out and show your support! Go Tops!

Toppers on Top!

Hello Topper Fans!  Our clubs are in full swing!  This past weekend our Men’s Lacrosse Club hosted their first home game of the season against Bellarmine University.  It was a close game, but the Toppers came through in the final 8 seconds as they scored the game-winning goal, giving them a 10-9 victory.  Men’s Soccer also had a victorious weekend as they hosted Murray State University on Sunday evening, finishing with a 6-2 win.

We have another busy weekend coming up on “The Hill.”  Friday evening is the “Annual Alumni Rugby Matches.”  The “Old Girls” game will begin at 7:00pm, and the “Old Boys” game will begin immediately after, approximately starting at 8:00pm.  On Sunday, the Men’s Soccer Club will be hosting Bellarmine University at 12:00pm.

Exciting Weekend for the Toppers!

Hello Topper Fans!  We hope you all had a great week!  This past weekend the Fencing Club traveled to Eastern Kentucky University to compete in the “Halloween Open” where many club members placed.  In the men’s epee competition, Cameron Koch placed 1st overall while Chris Bidwell tied for 3rd place.  In the women’s epee competition, Rachael Misiuta placed 1st and Kelsey Taylor placed 2nd.  We are very proud of our Fencing Club!

This coming weekend we have many clubs that will be traveling.  The Men’s Ultimate Club will be competing in the “Octhrowberfest” at the University of Southern Indiana.  The Men’s Volleyball Club, Men’s Rugby Club, and Badminton Club will be traveling to the University of Kentucky on Saturday.   Further, the Women’s Volleyball Club will be participating in the “RedHawk Rumble” at the University of Miami (OH).  The Men’s Soccer Club will be traveling to Eastern Kentucky University.  To wrap up the weekend, on Sunday, the Field Hockey Club will be traveling down to Nashville to play Vanderbilt University. 

Back in Bowling Green, the Women’s Soccer Club will be hosting Northern Kentucky University at home at 1:30pm on Saturday.  Then on Sunday at 2:00pm they will host MTSU.  The Men’s Lacrosse Club will be hosting their first home game on Saturday at 3:30pm against Bellarmine University.  Following the women on Sunday, Men’s Soccer Club will host Murray State University at 5:00pm.

We’re Back!

Welcome back to the Hill Topper fans!  Sport Clubs are back in action and many have already started competing.  The Men’s Rugby Club started the season off with a “W” as they hosted Sewanee University in early September.  This past weekend, the Disc Golf Club attended the Southeast Collegiate Classic in Appling, Georgia, where they placed 9th out of 25 teams.  On Sunday, the Men’s Soccer Club hosted Austin Peay, where they came out on top with a 12-0 victory.

Many clubs will be traveling during Fall Break weekend.  The Men and Women’s Rugby Club will be attending the Heart of Dixie Tournament in Huntsville, Alabama this Saturday.  The Men and Women’s Ultimate Clubs will be traveling to Nashville, TN this weekend to compete in Vanderbilt’s “17th Annual Itchfest Tournament.  Good luck to all of our teams and we hope everyone has a great Fall Break!  Go Tops!

Closing of Another Chapter

Well guys, it’s about that time when the semester starts to wind down. The clubs had a great semester even though the weather got the best of us many times, but our teams pushed through it. The months of March and April were busy months.  In March, Disc Golf competed in the Gateway Collegiate Classic and took first place. Fencing Club hosted their first tournament in a very long time and had a terrific turnout. Club members Cameron Koch and Daniel Faller finished in 3rd place in epee and foil respectively. Women’s Ultimate hosted ther first home tournament,  “SHEnanigan Showdown”. Also, Women’s Ultimate competed in “Flava Fest 2013″ and placed 2nd. Chris Bidwell from BJJ/Judo club placed 2nd in the “2013 O.J. Helvey Kentucky State Judo Championship”.  In April, Women’s Volleyball hosted the “Thrill on the Hill” Tournament and placed 2nd overall. Men’s Rugby had 2 great wins  at home against Murray State University and Richmond Men’s Club.

We had a great turnout at the banquet, good food and good times. Thanks to everyone who joined us. Congrats to all of our award winners this year: Newcomer of the year Wilson Seremani from Men’s Rugby, Athlete of the year Chris Bidwell from Fencing and BJJ/Judo, Executive of the year Lauren Jones from Badminton, Community members of the year Women’s Rugby, Club of the Year Women’s Ultimate.

Thanks to all our clubs for a great semester. We are looking forward to the Fall!!
