On September 17, 2011 the club traveled to the Extreme Grappling Open in Buckner, Kentucky where the two competitors from WKU swept the competition. Russell Whatley dominated the GI Division at middle weight by taking the gold medal. Then Whatley took gold in the no-GI division by winning the belt in the light heavy weight intermediate division where he was fighting out of his weight class.
